As a Mother of two little boys (5 & 2yrs) I know the feelings of isolation, loneliness and the extremes to being a parent can push you to. It takes a village to raise little ones, but the village infrastructure is a thing if the past. As Mother’s we can find it difficult to authentically connect with other Mothers, have real conversations and get the support we need.
I remember my first experience at a Mother’s circle, sitting in a park with other like minded women, who silently held the space for me as I wept and let out truths about my experience that had never heard the light of day. I hadn’t realised how much anguish, grief and guilt I’d been holding all on my own. It was so refreshing to be able to share my truth and not receive advice, or be told that I was going to be ok. It was a transformational experience, and something I want to offer to you.
I have been hosting women’s circles in parks and yoga studios on and off since that very first circle I attended. Going online was never something I imagined doing. During this pandemic I have taught yoga classes on zoom and attended many meetings and trainings. I’ve been surprised by the connection I’ve been able to have online, and I feel positive that these online gatherings can be potent if we bring the right intention to them.
